Among the many exciting and applicable discussions in the article by Storm (2019), I found alarm fatigue and its relationship with compassion fatigue, satisfaction fatigue, and burnout. As a BSN practitioner, I developed more interest in alarm fatigue because understanding the relationship between nurses’ characteristics and alarm fatigue can help enhance safety in nursing practice and patient outcomes. With this knowledge and evidence, I will urge healthcare organizations to work in cohesion with nurse leaders and devise interventions to protect nurses and patients from alarm fatigue.
