The Quadruple Aim provides broad categories of goals to pursue to maintain and improve healthcare. Within each goal are many issues that, if addressed successfully, may have a positive impact on outcomes. For example, healthcare leaders are being tasked to shift from an emphasis on disease management often provided in an acute care setting to health promotion and disease prevention delivered in primary care settings. Efforts in this area can have significant positive impacts by reducing the need for primary healthcare and by reducing the stress on the healthcare system.
Changes in the industry only serve to stress what has always been true; namely, that the healthcare field has always faced significant challenges, and that goals to improve healthcare will always involve multiple stakeholders. This should not seem surprising given the circumstances. Indeed, when a growing population needs care, there are factors involved such as the demands of providing that care and the rising costs associated with healthcare. Generally, it is not surprising that the field of healthcare is an industry facing multifaceted issues that evolve over time.

Develop a 2 to 3 page paper, written to your organization’s leadership team, addressing your selected national healthcare issue/

stressor you selected and its impact on your organization. Use organizational data to quantify the impact (if necessary, seek assistance from leadership or appropriate stakeholders in your organization).
- Provide a brief summary of the two articles you reviewed from outside resources on the national healthcare issue/
stressor. Explain how the healthcare issue/stressor is being addressed in other organizations.
- Summarize the strategies used to address the organizational impact of national healthcare issues/
stressors presented in the scholarly resources you selected. Explain how they may impact your organization both positively and negatively. Be specific and provide examples.
Analysis of a Pertinent Healthcare Issue: Nurse Staffing
The Quadruple Aim is a health system excellence framework that provides broad goals to pursue to maintain and improve healthcare quality, patient outcomes, population health, and healthcare systems’ financial sustainability. Rathert et al. (2018) state that the Quadruple Aim was developed to help transform the performance of healthcare organizations by helping them prioritize performance improvements across four dimensions: mission fulfillment, revenue enhancement, and customer care and cost control. The aim is to help patients make better decisions about their health, save medical care costs, have better communication with physicians, provide better services to patients, and improve the overall quality of patient care. This paper aims to summarize two articles addressing the issue of nurse staffing and strategies used in healthcare organizations to solve it.
The nurse staffing issue
Nurse staffing is a national healthcare issue that can hurt the patient quality of care. This is because nurses are often overworked and underpaid, which can lead to fatigue, burnout, and extended absences from work (Christianson et al., 2022). Hospital nurses must be on call 24 hours daily and adjust their schedules constantly to accommodate unexpected events. As such, nurses are unable to provide optimal care for their patients. According to Christianson et al. (2022), nurses also report feeling stressed by their workloads. In addition to staying on call at all times, they must prioritize their patients according to their urgency. They must also deal with unpredictable shifts and staffing levels that may make it difficult to meet patient needs (Christianson et al., 2022). This stress may lead some nurses to opt not to seek employment elsewhere or stop looking for new positions. This may be due to a lack of desire or ability left after dealing with all this stress every day for many years without any relief. However, Drennan and Ross (2019) argue that most nurses are attracted to their jobs mainly due to their high-income level, individual perspectives, and the organization’s reputation.
